At the age of twenty-two (22), Derek Trucks has been a professional, touring musician for half of his life. Having played his first paying gig at age eleven (11) and having more or less toured nonstop since that time, Derek has matured into a seasoned musician who is admired by others as a “musician’s musician”. Derek, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, plays lead and slide guitars with both The Allman Brothers Band and his own five piece unit, The Derek Trucks Band , infusing his early influences of blues, jazz and world music into his own unique guitar style.

He has recorded with some of the blues greats such as Junior Wells (Come On In This House) and Johnny Copeland and Gatemouth Brown (Paint It Blue - Songs of the Rolling Stones) as well as The Allman Brothers Band (Peakin’ At The Beacon), The Derek Trucks Band (The Derek Trucks Band and Out Of The Madness), and Gregg Allman (Searching For Simplicity), and he has performed with such diverse artists as John Lee Hooker, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy and many, many more. Prone to improvisation and experimentation, Derek has dedicated his life to the advancement of the musical art form while always being mindful of the great musical pioneers who preceded him.
