Whipping Post

From: mduncan@ag.Arizona.EDU (Mike Duncan)

This is just mostly the first verse, but it gives an idea of the
song's structure. I didn't like either one of the guitar solos so I
didn't hack at them. They're in Am, of course. I include the bass line at
some points.
The chords are at Nevada but this elaborates further. Additions more
than welcome.

Title: WHIPPIN' POST (Gregg Allman)

		Am Am(on 2nd fret) A(on 5th fret) Am(on 2nd fret) Am

I've been run down, and I've been lied to,

And I don't know why I let that mean woman make me a fool.

She took all my money, wrecked my new car,

Now she's with one of my good time buddies

Drinkin in some cross town bar

		Bm7 D7 E7
CHORUS:	Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
	  | A D C
	  |	Like I've been tied to the whippin' post
	  |	A D C
	  |	Tied to the whippin' post,
	  |	A D C
	  |	Tied to the whippin' post,
	  |	C Tacet
	  -	Good lord I feel like I'm dying.

My friends tell me that I've been such a fool,

And I have to stand by and take if, baby, all for loving you.

Drown myself in sorrow and I look at what you've done,

But nothing seems to change, the bad times stay the same

		And I can't go on

		CHORUS

My score:

yes, this song is not in G, its in Am.
also, this bass line is completely wrong.
playing 5th fret on the E string is the same as playing an open A string, so i dont know why that tab would make any sense. the correct intro, as i have discovered and confirmed by watching oteil last night, is:

G---------------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------5-3-
E----5---5-3-5-3---5-3-5-3-5---5-3-5-3------

repeated as needed.

My score:

The guitar tab is way off, intro is totaly wrong its A to G not A to A, the chord progression is right A-B-C-B-A-B-C.... but all the lead work is wrong, the bass tab however looks very good, it got the five starts, i know this song by heart on guitar and hope fully the tab will be corrected but its a good atempt, and the song is in A minor

My score:

The song is in Am not G. Try these chords during verses Am7(5th fret) Bm7(7th fret) Cmj7(7th fret)
